September 17, 2015
NBCUniversal Hispanic Group’s Fluency Productions announced Samsung and Toyota will support the release of its next feature film, the highly anticipated English-language sci-fi thriller REVERSION. The follow up to the studio’s first original production, ISA, will debut October 9, 2015 in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, with a wider national release to follow, including multiplatform distribution on mobile, web and VOD. It will also air on Syfy, TELEMUNDO and NBC UNIVERSO. The film is produced in English and will be dubbed in Spanish for TELEMUNDO and NBC UNIVERSO.
“We are excited to introduce audiences to the next original feature film specifically designed for ‘Generation M’ (Millennial, Mobile, Multicultural),” said Peter Blacker, EVP, Digital Media and Emerging Businesses, NBCUniversal Hispanic Group. “REVERSION is another testament to NBCUniversal’s commitment to creating original programming with a focus on aspirational new heroes for multicultural audiences that is accessible across multiple platforms.”
Samsung, an integral element of Fluency’s first major motion picture ISA, returns as the exclusive category sponsor of REVERSION and will provide smartphones and tablets that will be seamlessly integrated into key scenes throughout the movie. Samsung is also the sponsor of exclusive, original video content and behind-the-scenes photos available on Telemundo.com. The digital shorts are powered by NBCUniversal’s Hispanics Plus, the innovative targeting platform, to ensure they reach Hispanics across the entire NBCUniversal portfolio.
As the exclusive automotive sponsor, Toyota will have the 2015 Camry and Highlander featured in many of REVERSION’s suspense-filled scenes. In partnership with NBCUniversal Hispanic Group, Toyota developed custom video content featuring REVERSION star, Jeanette Samano, as she shares her journey as an actress, her role in the film and her Hispanic heritage. This content will live on a dedicated Fandango Cine hub on Telemundo.com, with snackable videos also featured on Fandango Cine’s Facebook page. Additionally, Toyota will host the film’s premiere screening event on September 29 at the Downtown Independent Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
“Telemundo has provided Toyota with innovative communication solutions throughout the course of our partnership,” said Dionne Colvin-Lovely, Director Traditional and New Media, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. “The new movie distribution model presents Toyota with a perfect opportunity to not only engage our guests on many levels, from traditional to digital channels, but also integrates the 2015 Toyota Camry in fun and unexpected ways throughout the film. We’re delighted to be an integral part of this groundbreaking show, utilizing everything from custom content developed with one of the principal characters, to action-filled scenes.”
Filmmaker, José Nestor Marquez, created REVERSION to further explore the intertwining of technology and identity, which began with his 2014 critically acclaimed feature ISA.
REVERSION centers on Sophie Clé (Aja Naomi King), a delighted user of the Oubli, a wisp of high-tech jewelry that wraps behind the ear and uses neuroscience to help its users experience their most joyful memories as if they were happening for the first time. In addition to being the head of marketing for the company that makes this revolutionary memory-enhancing wearable device, she is also the daughter of its inventor, Jack Clé (Colm Feore).
Sophie’s most joyful memory is the last day she saw her mother alive, fifteen years earlier. But on the eve of the Oubli’s worldwide launch, a stranger named Isa (Jeanette Samano) kidnaps Sophie, setting off a chain of events that remind us all, you can’t escape what you can’t forget.
REVERSION is directed and Co-written by José Nestor Marquez (Ana Maria in Novela Land, Isa) and stars Aja Naomi King (“How to Get Away With Murder)”, Colm Feore (“Gotham,” The Chronicles of Riddick), Gary Dourdan (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Being Mary Jane”) and Jeanette Samano (ISA, Speechless).
