Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame Governor’s Award

The Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame announced that the recipient of its annual “Governor’s Award” is ad agency Lopez Negrete Communications. Lopez Negrete is one of the top Hispanic agencies in the country and is based in Houston, Texas.

The Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Tenth District of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), encompassing Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The “Governor’s Award” will be presented at the ceremonial Hall of Fame induction dinner, to be held in Dallas on June 25, 2016.

Alex López Negrete has been working in Hispanic advertising since 1985, when he and his wife Cathy co-founded the Houston-based firm. Since then, they have built the agency to become the largest advertising firm of any focus in Houston and the largest Hispanic advertising firm in the country.

Lopez Negrete has created advertising campaigns for numerous national brands, including Walmart, Bank of America, Samsung, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, NBC Universal Pictures, the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, Frontier Communications, Verizon Wireless, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, the Houston Astros, and the Houston Rockets, just to name a few.  In a 2007 Billboard Magazine article, Lopez Negrete was described as the “top Latin ad agency”; the company’s CEO, Alex López Negrete, was named 2012 Agency Executive of the Year by HispanicAd.com; and most recently he was honored by the government of Mexico with the Ohtli Award, the highest honor bestowed upon civilians of Mexican or Latino descent living abroad, for his commitment to and support of the Mexican-American and Latino communities in the United States.

The AAF Tenth District’s Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame “Governor’s Award” is presented to the advertising agency that, during its years of service, has distinguished itself through work produced on behalf of clients, that has contributed to the betterment of advertising and its reputation, and that has made volunteer efforts outside the workplace.

The honoree’s record of service reflects accomplishments made in the advertising industry in the United States and is located in the four-state area of the Tenth District (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas).
