CNN en Español Upfront 2016-2017

CNN en Español announced a new and enhanced lineup that continues to build on the network’s strategy of offering a multiplatform news network with fresh and original content, live breaking news programming, CNN Films and documentaries, CNN en Español Red Room, an interactive and social media space, and CNN en Marcha, a mobile interactive social media hub that travels to important venues all over the U.S.
“CNN en Español provides a variety of unique opportunities because we produce over 95% of our content and can work hand in hand to create unique audience brand experiences,” said Cynthia Hudson, senior vice president and general manager of CNN en Español and Hispanic strategy for CNN/U.S. “With our audience growth and domination of social media, we want our advertisers to move forward with us as we engage our audiences on multiple platforms.”
In 2017, CNN en Español will celebrate 20 years of covering news around the world like no one else with credible, emotional, ground breaking journalism. As part of the new and enhanced programming, the network also presented new weekend shows and more:
Sunday mornings are all new on CNN en Español and “Alla Vamos” to the heart of the story as told by the journalists and game changers who tell it like it is. Fernando del Rincon will host Fuentes Confiables, a weekly roundtable with rotating members of the Spanish-language media who come to discuss the hot topics of the week and the issues that are making headlines. The show will feature the topic of the week, the personality of the week, accompanied by data and factoids to highlight the depth of an issue, along with a round robin in which del Rincon asks one question and each journalist gives their take on the subject matter.
Emmy Award-winning anchor Patricia Janiot will host Nuestro Mundo, a multiplatform show highlighting our best storytelling in an out-of-the box format. Nuestro Mundo is a news magazine compilation that brings viewers a different perspective on the stories they want to know more about in a longer format allowing the viewer to experience the richness of each narrative. The topics will span across multiple categories that include iconic profiles, personalities, locations, destinations, science, innovative endeavors, unique businesses, industries, unique crafts, artistic endeavors and much more.
And following our motto “Alla Vamos” in 2017, the network invites the audience to accompany Ismael Cala as he goes On The Road With Cala. With a remarkable number of successful interviews with politicians, celebrities and other personalities, domestic and international, Cala takes his program on the road again in Latin America.
During this consequential election year and beyond, CNN en Español dives deep to show the power of Latinos and their important role in American Politics with Voto Latino specials and Directo USA programs hosted by political anchor Juan Carlos Lopez.
Destinos, hosted by Emmy award winner Alejandra Oraa, debuts a new look and will circle the globe in search of the latest destinations. Destinos goes beyond borders, exploring some of the world’s most interesting cities, making the viewer the ultimate insider into the lifestyle and culture of the best destinations the globe has to offer.
Triunfadores del Deporte is a program that gives sports enthusiasts a chance to know more about their idols, with an in-depth look at the players, coaches and owners in the business, as well as the human interest and colorful stories around the most important names in sports and tournaments in the world. Presented by sports insider and Emmy Award winner Elizabeth Perez, Triunfadores del Deporte goes beyond the results in sports in search of the person behind the athlete.
Guillermo Arduino will present the latest technology and the newest innovations in the Emmy Award-winning program Clix. Tracking issues ranging from cyber safety and email etiquette, to cutting through the jargon about the latest gadgets and home entertainment options, and Arduino gives access not only to the latest news and information but also to the people and companies taking technology to the next level.
Showbiz takes it to the next level with Estrellas del Showbiz, a fresh and upbeat program that focuses on high-profile celebrity interviews and controversial topics making news in show business. With dual host presence from star-studded Los Angeles and Miami’s Latino Hollywood, this new weekly program will delve into the private lives and careers of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars.
And, as a commitment to health programming, CNN en Español presents our award winning health and wellness program Vive la Salud with Dr. Marisa Azaret.
CNN Estilo, a monthly program presented by Derek Blasberg, will bring viewers one step closer to the world of art, luxury, fashion, autos, architecture and design. A companion television program to the already established CNN Estilo Online Portal, CNN Estilo has brought back the iconic CNN program Style with Elsa Klensch re-imagined for the global and digital audience.
CNN en Español has a wealth of programs dedicated to finance that can be customized to target consumers featuring anchors Gabriela Frias with Fuerza en Movimiento and Portafolio Global, Jose Antonio Montenegro with Globoeconomía and Xavier Serbiá with CNN Dinero.
Furthermore, the network will present Docufilms, revealing, distinguished and thought-provoking documentary-films that bring viewers artifacts, biographies, uplifting stories and historical moments of impact put into context by various CNN en Español anchors.
The network is bringing a unique focus on the influencers of the past 20 years with a series of 20 specially crafted programs of CNN en Español’s award winning original series. Los Influyentes is a custom-made series of special programs and vignettes that offer a look back at the stories that shaped our world.
The CNN Red Room is an interactive and social media space where influencers, newsmakers and other VIPs enjoy the 360 experience of CNN en Español and share it with their followers and fans.
And last but not least, CNN en Español presented CNN en Marcha, a mobile interactive social media hub that travels to important venues all over the US producing original content.
