Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5 PM to debut News Team

Telemundo 52 Los Angeles / KVEA announced that Dunia Elvir and Julio Vaqueiro will make up the anchor team for the station’s new half-hour weekday newscast at 5 PM, Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5 PM that will debut on Monday, September 26. With this new local news expansion, Telemundo 52 will deliver more than 25 hours of local breaking news coverage, up-to-the-minute weather forecasts and information programming each week.

Additionally, Nancy Leal has been named News Co-Anchor for Telemundo 52’s weekday morning newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5 AM y 6 AM, and will join News Co-Anchor Enrique Chiabra and Weather Anchor Michelle Trujillo to deliver the latest breaking news and information for Spanish-speaking viewers in the greater Los Angeles area.

“Telemundo 52 is the only local Spanish-language television station in the market that continues to expand its local news programming with more local news, up-to-the-minute weather forecast and consumer information our viewers need and across all platforms,” said Celia Chavez, President and General Manager, Telemundo 52. “Our local news expansion is a testament to the commitment that we have as a local broadcaster to better inform, empower and enrich the lives of our viewers.”

With the addition of the station’s new afternoon newscast, Telemundo 52’s local news programming line-up will feature:

•     Early Morning News – Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5 AM y 6 AM will feature News Co-Anchors Nancy Leal and Enrique Chiabra alongside Weather Anchor Michelle Trujillo;
•     Early Afternoon News – Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5 PM y 5:30 PM will feature News Co-Anchors Dunia Elvir and Julio Vaqueiro, and Telemundo Responde Consumer Investigative Reporter Azalea Iñiguez;
•     Evening News – Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 6 PM y 11 PM will feature News Co-Anchors Ana Patricia Candiani and Julio Vaqueiro alongside Weather Anchor Gabriela Rosales, and Sports Anchor Alejandro Navarro; and
•     Weekend News – Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5:30 PM y 11 PM will feature News Anchor Azucena Gomez and Weather Anchor Yara Lasanta.

Leal joins Telemundo 52 Los Angeles from sister station Telemundo 39 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS where she served as the Weekend News Anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 39 Fin de Semana a las 4:30 PM y 10 PM. Leal joined Telemundo in 2005 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Production from the University of Houston.

Earlier this year, Azucena Gomez was named Weekend Anchor for the station’s local newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo a las 5:30 PM y 11 PM. Additionally, Azalea Iñiguez was named Consumer Investigative Reporter and is responsible for leading the station’s local consumer investigative unit, Telemundo Responde. Iñiguez’s consumer investigative reports can be seen on weekdays during Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5:30 PM.  Telemundo Responde is the station’s local consumer advocacy unit that answers consumers requests on a daily basis and has helped to recover thousands of dollars for consumers in the Southern California area.
