MISS UNIVERSE Competition on Azteca America

Azteca America announced that it will return for the second consecutive year as the exclusive U.S. Spanish-language broadcaster of the MISS UNIVERSE Competition. The broadcast, one of the most-viewed live events on television each year, will air from Manila, Philippines in Spanish on Azteca on Sunday, January 29 from 7:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT tape-delayed. The reigning Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, will crown her successor at the end of the evening.

Azteca talents Vanessa Claudio, Alejandro Lukini and Marcela Cuevas will host the live Spanish language broadcast as well as a special live pre-show starting at 6:00 PM ET. Television personality, model, and former Miss Universe contestant Lourdes Figueroa will be reporting live in Manila for Azteca. Figueroa was crowned Miss Guatemala in 2009 and went on to represent her country in the 2009 Miss Universe pageant.

“We are thrilled to return as the U.S. Spanish-language broadcaster for this great global event,” said Manuel Abud, President and CEO, Azteca America. “Miss Universe represents an entertaining opportunity for our audience to celebrate their Latino culture and pride while cheering on their favorite contestant from their respective native countries.”
