CNN en Español presents DocuFilm “Rescuing Havana”

CNN en Español will air it signature series DocuFillms, this time with a special edition ‘Rescuing Havana’, presented by Juan Carlos López, US Political Director & Anchor for CNN en Español in Washington DC.
As Cuba transformed into a communist country overnight, Havana languished. Havana’s decline, however, could have been graver without Eusbeio Leal. With the support of his mentor, historian Emilio Roig, Leal earns the necessary credentials to launch a rescue of Old Havana and its cultural heritage, one that makes it a great Latin American capital. Part of the titanic task Leal faced would be to convince an atheist government that declared its desire to convert the island into the first socialist country in America. A skilled communicator, Leal set out on an awareness campaign to salvage Old Havana from complete deterioration and rescue its social values and cultural heritage from oblivion. This is the story that gave birth to “Rescatando la Habana.”
More than a tribute to Leal, this documentary recognizes the rescue of Old Havana and its surroundings, a city that in 1982 was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
