Telemundo Deportes converge of FIFA FUTSAL WORLD CUP LITHUANIA 2021

Telemundo Deportes presents exclusive coverage of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021, the ninth edition of the quadrennial international futsal championship that brings together 24 teams from around the world. The event kicks off this Sunday, September 12 highlighted by Kazakhstan vs. Costa Rica at 10:55 a.m. ET, live on Universo. Coverage begins at 8:55 a.m. ET on TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo Deportes app with Football Union of Russia vs. Egypt, followed by Uzbekistan vs. Guatemala and Lithuania vs. Venezuela.
All matches will live stream on TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo Deportes app with Universo also airing ten games, including a semifinal and the final match on Sunday October 3, starting at 12:30 p.m. ET with a pre and post-game special. Telemundo Deportes’ digital platforms and social media platforms will complement match coverage throughout the tournament with daily recaps and highlights.
Among the 24 nations competing is returning champion Argentina, along with USA, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Panamá, Guatemala, Paraguay and Spain. The roster also includes Angola, Czech Republic, Egypt, Football Union of Russia, IR Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Morocco, Portugal, Serbia, Solomon Island, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Five years ago in Colombia, Argentina won their first FIFA Futsal World Cup, the Albiceleste defeating Russia 5-4 in the final. Prior to that, only Brazil (record-holders with five titles) and Spain (two titles) had ever won the tournament. Among some of the notable players are Argentina’s Constantino Vaporaki who returns to make history again as one of the team’s top goal scorers in the last tournament. Forward Jesus “Chabela” Viamonte is Venezuela’s hope as the country makes its debut in the tournament. Guatemala returns with its top three goalers from the 2016 tournament, Alan Aguilar, Jose Mansilla and Roman Alvarado. 2016’s best goalkeeper Guitta and top goal scorer Gaeia return as part of Brazil’s squad.
The FIFA Futsal World Cup is the international championship for futsal, the indoor version of association football organized by FIFA. The event takes place every four years bringing together the top teams from around the world since 1989. The 2021 tournament will be the first FIFA tournament ever hosted by Lithuania. The event was originally taking place in 2020 and was postpone to 2021 due to Covid.
