Luis Patiño named CEO of Austin PBS

Luis Patiño has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of Austin PBS. Luis, former President and General Manager of Univisión Los Angeles, joined the station on Monday, March 21, 2022.

Luis is a seasoned media executive with a purpose-driven process. His areas of expertise include product development, having created several long-lasting community initiatives in the areas of civic engagement, entrepreneurship, higher education and youth sports. Other areas of focus have been news production and consumer marketing as well as community impact in digital media, radio, and television. Prior to moving to California, Luis served as the Vice President and General Manager of Univisión in both Austin and San Antonio from 2008-2017. During his time in Austin, he served on several non-profit boards including Austin PBS, the Long Center for the Performing Arts, the Mexic-Arte Museum, the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS) and more.

Luis is joining Austin PBS at a pivotal moment in the station’s history. As the opening of our new home — the Austin Media Center — at ACC Highland quickly approaches, Luis will lead the organization on an ambitious transformational journey, embracing our new partnership with Austin Community College to engage digital native generations and expand our reach and impact on a diverse and growing Central Texas community. He will build upon Austin PBS’s tremendous strengths and unique assets, ensuring we stay true to our mission while maintaining our entrepreneurial spirit to be a leading public media organization in a dynamic and shifting media landscape.
