To identify the most ethnically diverse places in America, WalletHub compared more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities across three key metrics: ethnoracial diversity, linguistic diversity and birthplace diversity.

Key Stats

  • Oakland, California, has the highest racial and ethnic diversity, which is four times higher than in Hialeah, Florida, the city with the lowest.
  • Hialeah, Florida, has the highest concentration of Hispanic or Latino people, at 95.75 percent.
  • Parkersburg, West Virginia, has the highest concentration of white people, at 94.08 percent.
  • Greenville, Mississippi, has the highest concentration of black people, at 83.23 percent.
