Telemundo to premier DIARIO DE UN GIGOLÓ

Telemundo announced the premiere of Diario de un Gigoló (Diary of a Gigolo), a special four-episode affair airing for two hours on Saturdays, beginning November 12 at 9pm/8C. The thriller stars Spanish actor Jesús Castro (La Reina del Sur, Brigada Costa del Sol, El Niño,) Oscar-nominated actress, Adriana Barraza (Bingo Hell, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Babel, We Can be Heroes,) Victoria White (Buscando a Frida,) Fabiola Campomanes (El Juego de las Llaves, Mi corazón es Tuyo,) Francisco Denis (Narcos, Jack Ryan,) Begoña Narváez (La Fan, From Prada to Nada,) Eugenia Tobal (Sos Mi Hombre, Los Únicos,) and Alosian Vivancos (Lord of the Skies, Club de Cuervos). This original series, which was filmed in Argentina, has seduced audiences worldwide on streaming and for the first time Telemundo viewers will get to discover the secret world of gigolos.

According to leading actress Adriana Barraza, the greatest appeal for her to join Diario de un Gigoló was the opportunity to work with both Telemundo and Underground Producciones, the Argentinian production company. “When I read the script for Minou’s character, I loved it,” stated Barraza. “It’s not a type of character that I usually portray, with her sophistication, her energy and the great love she has for her daughter. She has questionable principles but is firm in terms of women’s issues and their right to be who they want to be. I think the viewer will enjoy this series with very complex characters, an interesting plot and, above all, the intrigue that arises. I am thrilled to be part Diario de un Gigoló.”

“I am grateful to all the people who have received Emanuel with open arms and for all the tokens of affection I’ve received from the audience,” said Castro. “This series has given me the opportunity to collaborate with a great team and the amazing experience of shooting in another country.”

Diario de un Gigoló is a provocative mini-series that tells the story of Emanuel (Castro), a male escort living a life of freedom and luxury. After enduring violence and poverty during his childhood years, Emanuel forges a strong bond with Minou (Barraza,) a businesswoman who takes him under her wing and helps him become a sought-after male escort. Fate changes when Ana (Campomanes,) one of his most frequent clients, offers him a tough job – to seduce her daughter Julia to help build her self-esteem. Emanuel unexpectedly gets romantically involved with Julia, making him doubt his life choices. Consumed by jealousy for the relationship she promoted, Ana threatens to reveal the truth about Emanuel to her daughter to end their romance. Blinded by his love for Julia, Emanuel fails to see the dangers impacting their uncertain future together and his complicated life as a gigolo.

Created by Sebastián Ortega, Diario de un Gigoló was written by Silvina Fredjkes and Alejandro Quesada and is directed by Mariano Ardanaz. Marcos Santana, Sebastián Ortega, Pablo Flores, Juan Ponce and Pablo Cullell serve as executive producers.
