Canela.TV to feature Classic Films from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema

Canela Media announced that more than 100 films from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema will find their home exclusively on Canela.TV. Throughout the year, these iconic films will be released in Spanish and available to stream for free, starting on June 13. The ‘Cine de Oro’ collection is the latest in Canela Media’s ongoing efforts to preserve Latino culture–in which classic Mexican films and their iconic stars play an integral role–providing authentic and relevant content for generations of viewers.

The first list of titles that will be available to stream for free on Canela.TV from the very robust Diana International Films library include:

‘Me He de Comer Esa Tuna’ (1945), starring Jorge Negrete, a comedy film about two friends who gamble for the love of a woman; ‘La Devoradora’ (1946), featuring María Félix, who seduces a young man and convinces him to murder her lover, but tragedy strikes when he commits suicide; Pedro Infante’s ‘Escuela de Vagabundos’ (1955), a homeless man finds himself in the home of a woman who plans to change him, unaware that he is not who he seems to be, and ‘Lo Que le Pasó a Sansón’ (1955), a comedic retelling of the events around the biblical character: Samson portrayed by Tin Tan (Germán Valdés).

Two films featuring Mexico’s comedian La India María (María Elena Velasco), in ‘Duro pero Seguro‘ (1975), where she plays a taquera who becomes so popular that she threatens the success of a movie studio’s restaurant, and in ‘Sor Tequila‘ (1978), in the role of a nun who finds herself in uproarious situations with the town’s priest until they both understand that they are pursuing the same goal: to help people.

Other notable films that will be available on Canela.TV include ‘Por la Puerta Falsa‘ (1950), starring Rita Macedo and Pedro Armendáriz, ‘Educando a Papá’ (1955), featuring Fernando Soler, ‘Departamento de Soltero‘ (1971), starring Yolanda Varela, and ‘La Criada Bien Criada‘ (1971), with Chabelo.

As part of Canela Media’s commitment for cultural preservation, these classic Mexican films will be newly restored to high definition and will be made available on the streaming platform Canela.TV throughout the year.
