Canela Media Appoints José Molina as Chief Financial Officer

Canela Media a leading technology, innovation and data driven multicultural media company, today of José Molina to the role of Chief Financial Officer. He will be based in Miami and report to the Canela Media’s Co-Founder and CEO Isabel Rafferty Zavala.
José Molina joins Canela Media with more than two decades of financial leadership across top Hispanic media organizations. He has held senior roles at Univision, SBS, and MundoMax, where he managed multi-billion-dollar P&Ls, led corporate restructuring, and oversaw strategic planning across complex operations. A CPA and recognized industry finance leader, Molina’s expertise in scaling businesses, driving profitability, and managing investor relationships will support Canela Media’s continued growth. As the company expands its content, advertising, and data capabilities through its proprietary Canela Audience Solutions platform, Molina’s leadership will be key in optimizing financial performance and unlocking new opportunities across the business.

José Molina is an experienced financial executive with extensive expertise in media and broadcasting. Most recently, he served as CFO of Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS). Prior to that, he held senior leadership positions at Univision Communications (SVP & CFO, Networks) and MundoMax (President & CFO), where he specialized in financial strategy, corporate restructuring, and operational efficiency. A CPA since 1997, Molina earned a master’s and bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Florida. He began his career at KPMG LLP and was named one of Miami’s Top 25 CFOs for 2024 and one of the Broadcast Industry’s Best Finance Leaders from 2020 to 2023.
