Telemundo Kicks-off The Playmakers in Washington, D.C., Uniting Sports Leaders Ahead of the Final Draw for the FIFA World Cup 26™

Telemundo hosted its inaugural The Playmakers event last night in Washington, D.C., convening influential voices across sports, business, and media for an evening of powerful conversations ahead of the FIFA World Cup 26™ Final Draw. The invitation-only gathering marked the official debut of The Playmakers, Telemundo’s national thought-leadership series designed to celebrate and spotlight the leaders and ideas shaping the next era of sport.

The program, hosted by legendary sports commentator Andres Cantor, kicked off with a headline fireside chat between U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino and Emmy-winning sports anchor Miguel Gurwitz, offering an intimate look at Pochettino’s leadership philosophy, resilience throughout his career, and the evolution of soccer as the nation prepares to host the World Cup in 2026.

The evening also featured two dynamic panel discussions, bringing together CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani, U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone, and representatives from the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Host Committees of Miami, Philadelphia and New York New Jersey to explore local economic impact, grassroots development, and the long-term legacy the tournament will leave across North America.
