Cynthia Hudson acquires rights to “Wish Me a Good Journey” for Film and Documentary
February 5, 2026

Multi–Emmy Award–winning media executive Cynthia Hudson, CEO and Founder of Hi Media Partners, has officially acquired, from Grupo Planeta, the screen rights to adapt the memoir Wish Me a Good Journey (Deséenme un buen viaje) into a feature film and a companion documentary, bringing to the screen the remarkable life and final chapter of renowned Cuban intellectual, author, and journalist Carlos Alberto Montaner.
The audiovisual adaptation expands beyond the book to examine the family’s struggle and tensions in securing a dignified death, while revisiting memories of a brilliant man who escaped a Cuban prison to become an exile in the United States and Spain, and who went on to build a career as one of Latin America’s most influential journalists and authors. Montaner’s extraordinary story intertwines his intellectual legacy with his final journey, within a life devoted to democratic ideals, freedom, and political thought across Latin America, Spain, and the United States. The companion documentary will be produced by his granddaughter, journalist Paola Ramos, who documented Montaner’s final years, offering an intimate, first-person portrait of his life and last months, surrounded by his wife, his two children, and his granddaughters.
Carlos Alberto Montaner was the author of numerous influential books on politics, democracy, liberal thought, and Latin American identity, including El perfecto idiota latinoamericano, a seminal work that has reached its tenth editionand remains a cornerstone of political debate throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
The multimedia screen adaptation will be led by Cynthia Hudson as Executive Producer and Creative Lead, an Emmy Award–winning media executive and Managing Director, who brings decades of leadership at the highest levels of global English- and Spanish-language media. This announcement marks Hudson’s first feature-length screen adaptation, guided by her long-standing editorial authority, storytelling vision, and executive experience.
