2014 Multicultural TV Leadership Awards

  Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News have announced an esteemed panel of eight individual and impartial judges for the 2014 Multicultural TV Leadership Awards, being presented Tuesday, February 4, 2014 during the Multicultural TV Summit in New York City at the Grand Hyatt.

The list of judges includes a leading religious leader from the African American community, Reverend Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III, Pastor of the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church in the City of New York and President, the State University of New York College at Old Westbury; legendary Spanish language talk show icon Cristina Saralegui; Ambassador Sandra Fuentes, the Consul General of Mexico in New York; Dave Montez, Acting President of GLAAD, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community’s media advocacy organization; Wade Davis, a former pro football player who is the recently named Executive Director of the “You Can Play” Project, which is changing attitudes in professional sports about LGBT athletes; and Eliot Kang, a multicultural marketing pioneer, founder of Asian American agency, Kang & Lee and the CEO of INMOST Partners LLC.

Additionally, the list of judges includes two authors and multicultural marketing experts: Pepper Miller, co-author of “What’s Black About It” and author of “Black Still Matters in Marketing,” and President of the Hunter-Miller Group, and Bob Kumaki, author of “Many Cultures One Market: A Guide to Understanding Opportunities in The Asian Pacific Market” and Managing Principal of The Ronin Group

The Multicultural TV Leadership Awards, representing 10 categories, recognize noteworthy business executives who have contributed to the sustainability and growth of multicultural TV– defined as any video that is intended for an audience of a specific ethnicity, nationality, region, gender, religious affiliation or LGBT lifestyle.

It is our privilege to have them as judges to honor those who will be our award recipients this year.”

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2014 Multicultural TV Leadership Awards online at http://www.multiculturaltvsummit.com/. Please refer to the “Awards” tab for entry rules and a statement of eligibility. The deadline for entries is Friday, November 1, 2013.

Nominees will be scored individually by this panel of independent judges in association with the publisher, senior editors and event producer. All scoring is confidential in order to maintain the impartiality and integrity of the Awards.

The Multicultural TV Awards will be presented for the second year by leading television industry publications Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News at a luncheon ceremony, from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., during the Multicultural TV Summit, being held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.
