Atlantino to serve as advisor to Roberto Clemente Brand

Atlantino LLC announced they have entered into an arrangement with 21In Right, Inc., to serve as Advisors to create and secure marketing opportunities for the Roberto Clemente Brand.

Roberto Enrique Clemente Walker is one of Puerto Rico’s biggest sports idol and a Major League Baseball Hall of Famer. He played his entire 18-year career with the Pittsburgh Pirates before his tragic death in 1972 during a humanitarian flight to help earthquake victims in Nicaragua.  One of the Big League’s most admired All-Stars, Clemente was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973, becoming both the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

Perhaps equally as important as Clemente’s accomplishments on the field was his role as an advocate for equitable treatment of baseball players of color, in which he took great pride. Near the end of his career, Clemente commented, “My greatest satisfaction comes from helping to erase the old opinion about Latin Americans and Blacks.”

Many are not aware that when Martin Luther King was assassinated in April 1968, Clemente organized his teammates and convinced MLB to delay Opening Day for two days, in order to not take away from the MLK funeral services.

The first Player Rep for Major League Baseball’s Players Association, Clemente believed in equality for all.  He stated “I don’t want to be treated like a Puerto Rican, or a black, or nothing like that. I want to be treated like a person.”

“21in Right is very excited to enter into this arrangement with Atlantino to create and secure marketing opportunities for the proud Clemente Brand,” said Roberto Clemente Jr.  “We are fully aware of how important it is to protect the Clemente Brand and demonstrate our brand’s synergies with the positive social movements that in some ways were also inspired by my father’s own efforts.   We have enlisted Atlantino to engage with companies that are interested in programs and events that elevate humanity.”

One of the estate’s first brand engagements took place nationally this September 9, when 15 MLB stadiums celebrated the annual Roberto Clemente Day.  21 In the Right plans on building on the success of this program in 2021 and beyond. The Clemente Team, working with Atlantino has developed programs for 2021 as it approaches December 31, 2022, the 50th anniversary of the passing of Roberto Clemente.

“We are especially proud to work as Advisors for the Clemente Brand because Roberto is such an example of dignity and selfless charity for all,” said Ralph Paniagua, Managing Director of Atlantino. “We will be presenting the Clemente Brand to corporate sponsors who embrace the values of equality, service and duty to humanity that Roberto Clemente represents.”

In 2020, the Roberto Clement Museum opened to rave reviews in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico presenting locals and Tourists the opportunity to know firsthand Roberto’s career path, memorabilia, and his activism. And an extension has been added presenting the Clemente Foundation’s and Vera Clemente and sons Luis, Roberto, and Ricky’s continuation of the Clemente Legacy after 1972. A 360 Degree Virtual Tour of the Clemente Exhibit will be produced and distributed globally to fans throughout the world.
