Zanahorias to Puerto Rico.

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) announced that Alfredo Galván, the host of AMOR 93.1 FM’s “Amor Temprano en la Mañana,” will be moving production of the award winning “Zanahorias” to Puerto Rico, Galván’s home. The move comes after the production’s doors opened in the United States in January.

In January, Galván was named Best Director for a Period Piece by the Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos, ACE, (Event Reporters Association) in New York, for his work on “Zanahorias.” Galván, or “Alfredito” as he is known to his listeners, has been a member of the WPAT Amor 93.1 FM family, SBS’s adult contemporary New York radio station, since June 2001.

”Zanahorias,” a satirical comedy, has already received five ACE awards and features the beautiful Denise Quiñones. It has been performed at the Duke Theater in New York City since January. After achieving critical acclaim and box office success in the United States, “Zanahorias” will move to Puerto Rico, where both Quiñones and Galván grew up. The play will be performed at the Centro de Bellas Artes in Caguas on August 30, and will run from August 31 through September 9 in the Francisco Arriví Theater (formerly the Matienzo Theater) in San Juan.

“The last several months here in the United States have been incredible,” said Galván. “Everyone from the production crew to the technical team members to the actors themselves have given this play their all day in and day out. Because of their dedication, ‘Zanahorias’ has achieved levels of success and recognition I never dreamed of. We are truly excited to bring production to Puerto Rico,” Galván beamed.
