Avon To Sell Latina Magazine Subscriptions.

Latina Media Ventures and Avon Products, Inc. have joined forces in a strategic co-marketing partnership to extend their reach to Hispanic women in the United States. As part of the multi-year deal, Avon’s 80,000 strong Hispanic sales force will sell Latina magazine to their customer base. The magazine will be featured in Avon’s new bilingual brochure debuting this fall, called Avon Eres Tú. In turn, Latina will bind a digest-sized brochure into the magazine four times a year for the duration of the deal.

Avon Eres Tú is a new bilingual brochure for Hispanic women that will launch in October of 2002, coinciding with Hispanic Heritage Month. The brochure is separate from the traditional Avon brochure and will speak directly to the unique beauty and lifestyle needs of Latina women and their families. Avon Eres Tú will feature cosmetic shades that match the wide variety of Latina skin tones, as well as photography showing Hispanic models wearing jewelry designed exclusively for this brochure.

Latina magazine will be featured as a product offering in the debut issue of Avon Eres Tú. The magazine will be sold at an exclusive rate of $10.99 for a one-year subscription to Avon customers. Latina is the first and only publication featured in Avon’s Hispanic brochure.

The first bind-in is currently scheduled to begin with Latina’s November issue, which hits newsstands nationwide on October 15th, 2002. This represents an entirely new way for Avon to distribute brochures to beauty enthusiasts in the Hispanic market.

“Avon Eres Tú was born out of Avon’s desire to address Latina women’s specific beauty needs,” said Sonia Russomanno, Director Marketing Segmentation at Avon Products Inc. “Through our innovative partnership with Latina, we will be able to reach many more Hispanic women with our new unique, bilingual brochure and make Avon more accessible.”

It’s truly a pioneering marketing effort for both companies.”

AVON & LATINA – EMPOWERING WOMEN: THE MARIPOSA PROJECT

Avon and Latina will also team up for the first ever Mariposa Project. (“Mariposa” is the Spanish word for butterfly.) As part of their continuing goal to empower women, the two companies are teaming up to select a “Mariposa,” and help one Latina become the woman she has always wanted to be.

Entrants will be asked to write Latina the “letter of your life,” explaining what their goal is, where they can use help, and why they should be chosen as a Mariposa. The grand prizewinner will win round-trip airfare to New York City, a four-day stay at a New York City hotel, treatments at the Avon Salon & Spa, a customized meeting with a life coach and a gift pack from both Avon and Latina. One hundred runners up will receive a gift pack from Avon and promotional items from Latina.

Entries must be received at Latina’s offices by September 30th, 2002. The winner will be announced in the January/February issue of the magazine. Information about the project will be posted on Latina.com and Avon.com.
