Hispanic Beisbol Magazine Launches.

Looking to capitalize on the Latino community’s passion for – and participation in — baseball, Chicharito, LLC debuts its Spanish language monthly magazine, Hispanic Beisbol, to national distribution.

The premier issue, with an initial circulation of 100,000, features a cover story on New York Yankees’ second baseman Alfonso Soriano. The issue also details the latest news and highlights of baseball from throughout Latin America, including columns from the dean of Hispanic Baseball writers, Juan Vene, and MSG network columnist Steve Kallas. The magazine also examines the stormy history of the Florida Marlins, as well as provides playoff coverage and profiles on Albert Pujols and Erubiel Durazo.

With Latinos now making up more than one-quarter of all Major League Baseball rosters, and the Hispanic population growing at an annual rate of 15% in the United States, Hispanic Beisbol debuts at a time when fan interest and participation is at an all-time high. The magazine is also being distributed in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

“People and pundits have been writing baseball’s obituary for years, but the game has never been more popular with the Hispanic community and it’s a trend that shows no signs of letting up,” said Victor Garrido, publisher of Hispanic Beisbol. “Not only is baseball thriving in the Latino community, but our young athletes have quickly become the lifeblood of the sport.”

“We are dedicating ourselves to the Spanish speaking male who has a passion for the great game of baseball. And in today’s marketplace, there is scant attention paid to this demographic. We’re about to change all that — and change the way Hispanics have historically received their news about favorite players and teams,” said Garrido.
