Hispanic Business Magazine’s 2002 ‘Entrepreneur Of The Year’.

Hispanic Business magazine announced that nominations for the 12th Annual Hispanic Business EOY (entrepreneur of the year) Awards are now being accepted. For more than a decade, the EOY awards have honored select business owners who epitomize the drive, innovation, courage, and civic responsibility of America’s most successful Hispanic entrepreneurs.

This year, Hispanic Business has added five new award categories: Retail & Franchise Entrepreneur; Manufacturing Entrepreneur; Services, Finance, and Technology Entrepreneur; Latina Entrepreneur; and Rising Star Business Entrepreneur (entrepreneurs less than 35 years old). The winner in each category will be eligible to win the top-ranking Hispanic Business Magazine EOY Award. Past award winners have been individuals in a wide range of fields who have turned their dreams into successful businesses. Juan Mencia, CEO of Cube Corp., was named the 11th Annual EOY winner after boosting company sales by 70 percent in 2001, despite the waning economy.

“More than a decade ago we set out to honor individuals who represent the imagination and spirit of Hispanic entrepreneurship in America,” stated Jesús Chavarría, publisher/CEO of Hispanic Business. “In the 12 years since the
first EOY award, the number of Hispanic firms has grown tremendously, from 489,900 in 1990 to more than 2.5 million, according to Census figures and estimates by HispanTelligence.”
