NBC's family of Los Angeles stations - KNBC (Channel 4), KVEA (Channel 52) and KWHY (Channel 22) - have partnered with Transit TV to provide local news, weather, sports and entertainment programming to Los Angeles County Metropolitan bus riders.

Starting this month, 1.2 million Los Angeles Metro bus riders will be able to watch KNBC (NBC), KVEA (Telemundo) and KWHY (Independent Spanish-language) local programming as they commute to and from work. Transit TV's wireless network of 4,400 LCD screens on 2,200 buses will enable the programming to be updated throughout the day; ensuring riders receive the latest news, weather and sports.

"Transit TV's network offers us a unique way to expose our stations' brands and promote our programming to as many people as possible," said Ginger Zumaeta, Vice President Advertising and Promotion, KNBC/KVEA/KWHY.

The partnership with Transit TV is another example of traditional media companies and advertisers utilizing out-of-home video environments to reach new audiences. NBC's LA stations' news content will be seen by Transit TV's young, urban audience every hour of the day, seven days a week.

"The addition of local news content furthers our commitment to provide our viewers with up-to-date, high quality, relevant programming," said Gerry Noble, CEO and President of Transit TV.

Fully installed on all 2200 Metro buses since August 2006, Transit TV's screens provide Los Angeles bus riders with 48 minutes of programming every hour. The partnership will see 5 minutes of the hourly content wheel provided by NBC's family of Los Angeles stations, including both English and Spanish-language content.
