Jose Luis Rodriguez ‘El Puma’ Honored @ Calle Ocho’s Walk Of Fame.

The official organization Calle Ocho Walk of Fame, announced that the internationally acclaimed actor and singer Jose Luis Rodriguez, better known as “El Puma,” will be honored with this year’s first “STAR” on Miami’s famous Calle Ocho strip on Saturday, February 9, 2002. In addition to the “STAR” he will also receive The Key to Miami Dade County and a Proclamation from the City of Miami. The unveiling ceremony will commence at 7:30 p.m. in front of the City of Miami’s “Tower Theater” located at 15th Avenue and 8th Street.

To mark this special occasion, the newly restored Calle Ocho strip will celebrate in Hollywood style, by rolling out the red carpet, providing live entertainment and a sneak peak at some of the most recognized international celebrities, as well as the ceremonial blessing from former Telemundo star, Padre Alberto (Father Albert).

Confirmed attendees include legendary celebrities from El Puma’s native country of Venezuela such as, Carlos Mata, Grecia Colmenares, Orlando Urdaneta and Lupita Ferrer. In addition, well-known celebrity impersonator Julio Sabala and other surprise celebrity guests will attend the event.

“This year ‘El Puma’ is the first of fourteen Hispanic artists who will be awarded a Calle Ocho Walk of Fame ‘STAR’,” said Carolyna Navarro, president and chief executive officer of the Calle Ocho Walk of Fame. “It is a great honor to recognize such a legend of our time for his countless artistic contributions and accomplishments to the entertainment industry.”

El Puma is the 35th person to be honored on Calle Ocho’s Walk of Fame and joins such illustrious stars as Gloria Estefan, Willie Chirino, Thalia, Cristina Saralegui, Raphael, Celia Cruz and Julio Iglesias.
