Cita con Caracol celebrates its 23rd Anniversary.

The cultural program of Radio Caracol 1260 AM, “Cita con Caracol”, is celebrating its 23rd anniversary of spreading culture this week.

In these past years, “Cita con Caracol” has featured the voices of the most prestigious Spanish-speaking writers. From Nobel prize for literature: García Márquez, Octavio Paz, Camilo José Cela, VS Naipaul and Czeslaw Milosz; Writers, poets and painters: Gastón Baquero, Fernando Botero, Guillermo Cabrera Infante, Eliseo Alberto, Mario Vargas Llosa, Carlos Fuentes, Carlos Alberto Montaner, Arturo Perez Reverte, Isabel Allende, Gonzalo Rojas, Rosa Montero and Antonio Skarmeta.

In addition to this legendary weekly program, “La ventana cultural” (“Cultural Window”) is also open daily to the listeners of Radio Caracol in South Florida, with the participation of Cordoba in Radio Caracol’s News at Noon (Monday-Friday, 12-1pm), live from anywhere in the world.

Enrique Rocha Cordoba is a Colombian journalist and former diplomat who has actively engaged in promoting culture in Miami, since his arrival in 1987 as a correspondent for Caracol Colombia, by creating a radio program to spread knowledge and human values. With his comments on Caracol Miami, columns in The Miami Herald, participation in the segment of “Colombia al Dia” on WLRN-Channel 17, and the combination of his travels around the world, Cordoba addresses cultural issues in a colloquial and unique style.

Cordoba has won several international awards such as the King of Spain Award for the Order of Civil Merit and the Cervantes Prize 2007 from Nova University in Ft Lauderdale. He is also part of the exclusive group 100 Latinos in Miami 2010.

Through his books “Cien voces de América” (One Hundred Voices of America), “Mi pueblo, el mundo y yo” (My people, the world, and I) and “Te espero en la frontera” (See you at the border), Cordoba deeply expresses his interest in Florida and its people. “La vuelta al mundo con Tamora” (Around the world with Tamora) is the title of a travel novel that he will be publishing coming soon to date.
