The End Of An Era …. Caballero Spanish Media Now SBS/Interep Sales.

Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. and Interep announced the creation of a newly-named division, SBS/Interep, formed to more effectively market the Spanish-language SBS Radio Network and other Interep represented Hispanic stations to national advertisers.

“Our expanded relationship with a company as respected as SBS within the realm of Hispanic media gives us an added advantage in our commitment to raise the visibility of Spanish-language radio among national advertisers,” commented Ralph Guild, Chairman/ CEO of Interep. “Hispanic consumers now represent 13% of the U.S. population, yet receive under 3% of total radio ad dollars. We are committed to closing this gap and, along with SBS, have implemented a range of marketing initiatives and incentive packages to achieve this goal.”

One such marketing initiative is the co-sponsored Interep and SBS “Power of Hispanic Radio” event planned for October, 2002 in New York City. This event brings together hundreds of the nation’s top media decision-makers, advertisers and clients to discuss the growing importance of Hispanic consumers, and Hispanic radio’s ability to reach this community. “SBS places a high value on its Interep relationship. This new alliance further strengthens and solidifies our mutual commitment to increasing Hispanic radio’s share of ad dollars,” stated Raul Alarcon, Jr., President and CEO of SBS.

SBS/Interep will now represent all stations previously represented by Interep’s Caballero Spanish Media.

Peter Doyle, President of Interep Independents, which included the former Caballero Spanish Media, added, “While we are delighted to enhance our partnership with SBS, they join me in paying a debt of gratitude to Eduardo Caballero, who is a pioneer in Hispanic radio marketing. As we move into our next phase of growth, SBS/Interep will continue the traditions of innovation and commitment to the Hispanic community that Caballero Spanish Media embodied for over 30 years.”
