Telemundo Swings Into The Amazon Jungle.

Telemundo network premieres the romantic comedy novela UGA UGA, a new action-packed adventure following the journey of a boy raised in the jungle by Indians, who returns to civilization as the rightful heir to his grandfather’s fortune. This innocent blond jungle boy soon discovers how the so-called civilized world can be full of surprises. Telemundo and Brazil’s TV Globo deliver this ingenuous and high spirited new novela in the U.S. which began on August 6, 2001, Monday through Fridays at 9:00PM (ET\PT).

In a plot as vibrant and exhilarating as those of comic book stories, three-year-old Adriano (Claudio Heinrich) is abandoned in the middle of the Amazon forest when an Indian tribe assassinates his parents. Lost in the jungle, he is adopted by the Indians, renamed Tatuapú, and raised in the wild. Meanwhile, for the past 20 years, his grandfather Nikos (Lima Duarte), convinced that his grandson lives, has tried in vain to find him. Despite his frail health, the stubborn old man refuses to die until he is reunited with his grandson, so that Adriano can assume his place as the only heir of the family fortune. Therefore, as the story develops, it seems that everyone is after him … some to make him rich … and others to make him disappear, as they are only interested in the fortunes of the old man. Santa (Vera Holtz) and Rolando (Heitor Martinez Mello), the ruthless aunt and cousin of the boy, challenge every effort to prevent the return of Adriano, abandoning all scruples when attempting to kill him countless times. As a result, Tatuapú lives in constant danger without an ally, until he befriends Baldochi (Humberto Martins), a fugitive man hiding out in the jungle from the mafia. Together this unlikely pair – a blond savage and daring ex-police-turned-fugitive – confront countless unusual and comic situations in the jungle and the civilized world which promise to make UGA UGA the new primetime sensation.

The story of UGA UGA is an original story by Carlos Lombardi, in collaboration with Margareth Boury and Tiago Santiago. It was directed by Wolf Maya and Alexandre Avancini and also stars Mariana Ximenez, Roberto Bonfim, Vivianne Pasmanter, Maria Ceiça and George Bezerra.
