2006 Univision’s ‘Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina’.

The already superstar-laden list of performers for this year’s edition of Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina” (Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards) has been expanded to include even more of today’s hottest and biggest recording artists. Mexican singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solis, Dominican Bachata duo Monchy y Alexandra and the Regional Mexican singing brothers of Los Elegidos have been confirmed to perform live from Miami’s American Airlines Arena on this country’s leading Latin music awards program on Thursday, February 23, beginning at 8 pm ET/PT.

In addition to performing live, one of Latin Music’s first ladies of song, Ana Gabriel will be presented the “Premio a la Excelencia”, a special award for excellence, commemorating her 30-year legendary career.

Co-hosting the 3-hour telecast will be immensely popular novela leading man Rene Strickler and chart-topping recording artist Paty Manterola.

Due to the wide appeal of Latin music in U.S. popular culture, “Premio Lo Nuestro” will offer English-language closed captioning to all viewers for the first time in its history. The musical showcase, which last year reached an audience of over 10 million Latin music fans, bestows awards annually in the 5 most popular Latin music genres – Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock and Urban – and Video of the Year. Nominees were selected from charts compiled by the prominent recording industry trade magazine Radio & Records® and then voted on by Latin music fans via Univision.com. Winners will be revealed on the Premio Lo Nuestro broadcast.
