2008 Miss Universe Pageant crowned # 1.

Telemundo Communications Group announced results for its national telecast this last Sunday of “Miss Universo 2008” (the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant ). According to Nielsen Media Research, the pageant hosted by Candela Ferro and Poncho de Anda, was the #1 broadcast in its time period on Spanish-language broadcast TV on Sunday night among key demos including total viewers, Adults 18-49, Women 18-49 and Women 18-34.

The live broadcast from Vietnam delivered over 2 million total viewers (2,023,000) with a 46% share among the Spanish-language networks, over 1 million Adults 18-49 (1,078,000) with a 42% share of Spanish, over half a million Women 18-49 (625,000) and 307,00 Women 18-34, outperforming the Spanish-language broadcast networks and CW across all key demos and CBS among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34.

Locally, the telecast ranked #1 in the time period surpassing all Spanish-language stations in the market in New York, Houston, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco among Adults 18-49. In Miami, “Miss Universo 2008” broadcast ranked #1 among Spanish and English language stations among households.
