The 2014 Dominican Professional Baseball League on Television Dominicana

Hemisphere Media Group, Inc. has secured exclusive rights to air the Dominican Professional Baseball League 2014-2015 season. Games will air live, 7 days a week, on Television Dominicana, the official television network for the Dominican community living in the U.S. The regular season will kick off on Thursday, October 16, and will run through December, with playoffs beginning in January 2015.

The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM, for its Spanish acronym) has served as a launching pad for many Dominican baseball prospects with their sights set on the Major Leagues. Many current baseball stars like Albert Pujols, Jose Reyes, and Robinson Cano, as well as past icons like Manny Ramirez and Vladimir Guerrero, have returned to the Dominican Republic to participate in the winter league.

“The Dominican Professional Baseball League is a source of great national pride for Dominicans living both on the island and in the U.S., and we are thrilled to bring the excitement to our viewers on Television Dominicana,” said Alan J. Sokol, President of Hemisphere Media Group, the network’s parent company.

LIDOM is comprised of six teams, each representing major municipalities on the island. Last year’s champion, the Licey Tigers (“Los Tigres de Licey”) will return to defend their title against historic rivals and championship contenders, the Escogido Lions (“Los Leones de Escogido”) and the Cibaneñas Eagles (“The Aguilas Cibaneñas”).
