25th Annual Tejano Music Awards Winners.

A sold-out crowd of over 4,000 witnessed exciting performances by Tejano Music stars at the 25th Anniversary Tejano Music Awards held recently at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Entertainment Complex in Eagle Pass, Texas. The show celebrated with great success the history and legacy of Tejano music and also included a musical tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla Perez.

were excited to announce that the move to Eagle Pass, Texas from their home city of San Antonio, Texas had been a strategically successful one in that it allowed other communities to support and enjoy the prestigious Awards Show. The Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass is the new Presenting Sponsor for the Tejano Music Awards and according to Mr. Brando Mireles, Entertainment Director for the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino, “We were very proud to have been the Presenting Sponsor for this year’s commemorative Tejano Music Awards because Tejano music is part of our own Texas cultural heritage. This event proved once again that the Tejano Music Awards Show is the only forum by which Tejano music artists are truly recognized.”
According to Mr. Jesus “Chuy” Olivares, City Manager of Eagle Pass, Texas, “Having the Tejano Music Awards in our city was an honor. We were privileged to have been selected as the site to host the historic 25th Anniversary Tejano Music Awards.” Added Mr. Olivares, “ The tremendous community support, participation and excitement that was generated and exhibited in all the events; including the City of Eagle Pass sponsored Noches Mexicanas, and the International Parade, confirm that the Tejano Music Awards are alive and well and are back on top.”
Awards Show guests witnessed musical performances by Grammy Award Winner, Jimmy Gonzalez y Mazz, Grammy Award Nominees, Jay Perez, Ram Herrera, Stephanie Montiel and Grupo Vida along with other Tejano music headliners such as Gary Hobbs, Shelly Lares, Marcos Orozco, K1, and Los Desperadoz. The evening also featured a special presentation of the Tejano Music Lifetime Achievement Awards to the two founders of the Tejano Music Awards, Mr. Rudy Trevino and Mr. Gilbert “Gibby” Escobedo. The show’s co-hosts were national Latina TV personality, Ms. Charlene Casillas and Tejano Entertainer and Eagle Pass, Texas native, Mr. Gary Hobbs, along with the featured talents of Comedian, “Happy’ Guerrero who has hosted and co-produced Galavision’s Que Loco Comedy Shows.
“The 2005 Tejano Music Awards was certainly one of the most exciting shows ever!” stated Mr. Robert Arellano, Chairman of TTMA. “Hundred of fans traveled from throughout the state of Texas, the United States and even Mexico for this milestone event that served to applaud and support our artists. The Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Entertainment Complex served as the ideal venue for the Awards Show as our show was even carried “live” and world-wide to the troops in Iraq via BNet radio.com one of our major Media Partners.”

Other events included the Tejano Music Industry Awards that were held Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Civic Center, in Del Rio, Texas. The Awards honored individual musicians, songwriters, Rising Female, Rising Male and Rising Group with voting done by peers. Tejano artists also performed in between the various award presentations.
