5th Annual Fiesta Atlanta returns to Centennial Olympic Park on May 1st.

Fiesta Atlanta returns to Centennial Olympic Park for its fifth year on Sunday, May 1, hosted by Lanza Group, LLC. The Cinco de Mayo event celebrates Latino culture with a day-long music festival. For the 5th anniversary, Fiesta Atlanta and the Lanza Group are creating a five year goal to further reduce festival waste by 50%.
“For Fiesta Atlanta’s fifth birthday, we want to expand the festival’s initiatives to include our environmental impact,” says Lanza Group President Ralph E. Herrera. “We can not only reduce our own waste, but help educate the public on recycling as well.”
In 2010 the waste management company for Fiesta Atlanta, Southeast Site Services reported 33% all waste collected was recycled. Festival attendees are encouraged to recycle their waste with recycling bins placed around Centennial Park. Strategies to achieve this goal include: focusing on encouraging attendees to recycle through the main stage, more recycling opportunities and cooperation from partners. The goal for the 2011 event is to recycle 40% of all waste created.
Centennial Olympic Park has been the site of Fiesta Atlanta since its inauguration in 2007; attendance has grown steadily year by year. Fiesta Atlanta has evolved from a predominately Hispanic event to include the entire community with more crossover artists, international arts and crafts and a fun filled atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy.
