7-Eleven Sponsorship Educates Local Students Using WSJ.

7-Eleven, Inc. is sponsoring subscriptions to The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition for more than 1,500 teens in high schools in the Greater Chicago area.

This sponsorship by 7-Eleven demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to community education and workforce development. The sponsorship makes The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition available in 50 classes at 35 Chicago-area high schools. This is the first year that the company has sponsored the student newspaper.

7-Eleven, Inc., as a Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition sponsor, provides Chicago-area classroom teachers each month with 30 copies of the Journal’s full-color, student newspaper, a comprehensive Teacher Guide including lesson plans and activities, and a companion Web site with interactive content for both students and teachers.

With circulation of 130,000 copies, The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition is read by more that 650,000 students and teachers each month. The Classroom Edition’s news staff selects business, economic and finance articles written by award-winning Wall Street Journal reporters with an eye toward the interests of today’s teens. The student newspaper reports regularly on economics, personal finance, careers, technology, entrepreneurship, media, and consumer trends.

Over the past nine years, the Classroom Edition has been consistently recognized for excellence by the Educational Press Association of America and honored for distinguished achievement in educational publishing for young adults.
