Estrella Media said it has become a growth leader in Spanish-language Free Ad-supported Streaming Television (FAST) programming. The company’s double-digit year-over-year growth was central to its 2023 IAB NewFronts and Upfront presentations.
René Santaella, Chief Digital and Streaming Officer said that the company’s FAST bundle has had 10 million monthly video uniques and over 280 million minutes streamed. He spoke to the tremendous growth the media company has had in two short years since launching its four FAST channels.
“FAST has become the next consumer media platform,” said Santaella. “By 2025, the advertising market is forecasted to be over $6 billion in revenue. Free streaming is #1 for those under 45 to watch TV, with the lines blurring between connected TV devices, FAST, vMVPDs (virtual Multichannel Video Programming Distributor), and On-Demand. FAST is now a major part of a viewer’s ‘bundle’ of platforms and channels they watch and frequent.”
Estrella Media’s four FAST channels have become a much-watched FAST bundle. EstrellaTV is the live feed of the company’s linear broadcast network, which includes the award-winning series Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento. Estrella News is the only Spanish-language FAST news channel that streams all day. Its leading series, 24 Horas, delivers news reporting from the US, Mexico, and Latin America. Estrella Games shows the best comedy and entertainment game shows and programs, including Cien Latinos Dijeron. Cine EstrellaTV is the best of Spanish-language cinema, with premium movies from drama and comedy to classic and family-friendly titles.
Santaella also announced the addition of Freevee, FuboTV, and SlingTV to Estrella Media’s FAST channels and connected TV partners, and a recent partnership with Amagi to migrate its streaming broadcast operations to a fully cloud-based platform in the coming months. The move to the cloud will enhance the efficiency of Estrella Media’s FAST operations for meeting the rapidly changing requirements of live streaming digital video advertising, programming, and distribution.
