AAF Diversity Achievement Awards 2002.

The seventh annual Diversity Achievement Awards dinner to raise awareness of the critical need for, and the benefits derived from, diversity in the advertising and marketing community. The fund raising event generates financial support for diversity programs throughout District Two of the AAF.

Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Edward James Olmos, Actor/Community Activist.

Trend Setter: Eliot Kang, President & CEO, Kang & Lee Advertising

Role Model: Indra Nooyi, Chief Financial Officer, Pepsico

Corporate Leader: Pfizer, Inc.

Diversity Lifetime Achievement: Caroline Jones, Posthumous

Background: For almost a decade, District Two of the American Advertising Federation has acknowledged those individuals and corporations whose actions have resulted in furthering the goal to create an industry whose workforce is culturally diverse and capable of creating advertising campaigns that are culturally sensitive and inclusive.

The proceeds from the Gala Dinner will be used to support two worthwhile programs. Howard University’s Multicultural High School Advertising Summer Workshop is the only one of its kind in the country and District Two is the primary external financial supporter of the program. The AAF’s Education Foundation, which grants scholarships to students contemplating careers in advertising, is also a recipient of the fundraising proceeds.

District Two of the American Advertising Federation is one of the premier districts of AAF. District Two currently represents thirteen local advertising clubs and 28 college chapters in Delaware, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. District Two is well known for its diversity and educational initiatives, including Diversity Achievement Awards and the National Student Advertising Competition, and is comprised of more than 5,000 members including advertisers, agencies and media companies.
