ABC Radio unveils Daddy Yankee’s Fuego Radio Show.

Reggaetón superstar Daddy Yankee’s eagerly-anticipated syndicated music and talk program, On Fuego Radio, took to the airwaves over the weekend of March 3-4 with exceptionally strong response from affiliates and listeners across the country. The program aired on 23 top-rated radio stations in markets including Los Angeles, New York, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth and Phoenix. At launch, the weekly two-hour program, syndicated by ABC Radio Networks, reached more than 60% of U.S. Hispanic households.

On Fuego Radio features the hottest music, cultural insight and commentary about the Latino experience from the “King of Reggaeton” himself, Daddy Yankee. The program is co-hosted by DJ Jewelz Lopez, crowned the “Queen of Reggaetón Radio,” along with DJ Crème, best known for spinning, mixing and producing Reggaetón, and Falo, who has been at the front lines of the Reggaetón genre for more than 15 years. DJ Crème also serves as the program’s co-producer.

“The response from the radio community to On Fuego Radio has been terrific and we are delighted with the initial roster of affiliates for this fast-growing program,” said Elisa Torres, senior director of Hispanic affiliate relations for ABC Radio Networks. “In the months ahead, we anticipate adding many more stations in markets across the country.”

Daddy Yankee is the nation’s top Latino entertainer in the Hispanic music industry’s hottest genre, Reggaetón. He is the first Reggaetón artist in the world to achieve serious crossover success. Driven by the success of his breakout club banger “Gasolina,” his sixth album Barrio Fino made its debut at the top of the Billboard charts in 2004, selling 2.5 million units worldwide and earning him a Latin Grammy. In just four weeks after the release of his latest album Barrio Fino en Directo, he has once again reached the No. 1 position on the Hot Latin Songs chart of the prestigious Billboard magazine, this time with “Rompe,” while “Machucando,” his most recent hit, occupies the fifth position on the same chart. The video for “Rompe” has also entered heavy rotation on MTV, and reached the number one position on MTV’s Total Request Live countdown. His consistent platinum sales and sold-out tours confirm his success and popularity.

DJ Crème helms Reggaetón specialty shows on WCAA New York, WZMX Hartford and Sirius Satellite Radio. He spins regularly at such top clubs as The Copacabana, Webster Hall and Jimmy’s Bronx Café. In addition, he produces his own party tracks and has co-produced remixes for many high profile artists. DJ Crème’s career began at age 19, when he became the youngest program director at WSPR Power 1270 AM in Springfield, MA. In 2001, he was hired by WCAA, New York to host El Reggaetón De NY, which quickly became the No. 1 ranked show.

Rafael Cuevas, better known as Falo, is one of the most instrumental figures in the growth and evolution of Reggaetón. He has influenced an entire generation of artists while remaining one of the most successful proponents of the genre.

Jewelz Lopez is one of the leading voices in the broadcast industry today. The youngest Latina in America’s largest radio market, she broadcasts six days a week on WKTU New York, where her dance and rock/alternative music show has an estimated two million listeners and is consistently No. 1 with females 12-54. She can also be heard nationwide on Sirius Satellite Radio’s channel 20 and Dish Network’s channel 4020. Latina magazine recently named Lopez a “Power Player.”

“The advertising demand for On Fuego Radio, has been overwhelming with top brands like Ford signing on as the exclusive automotive sponsor of the program,” said Carlos San Jose, director of Hispanic sales for ABC Radio Networks en Español. “We are very excited about the response we have received to date and look forward to adding more national brands to the program.”
