Abril – VP & GM Telemundo Phoenix & Tucson.

Thelma Abril has been promoted to vice president and general manager of Telemundo’s KDRX in Phoenix and KHRR in Tucson, Ariz., effective immediately. The announcement was made today by Ibra Morales, President, Telemundo Television Stations, to whom Abril will report. Abril assumes the general manager role from Araceli DeLeon, who was named GM of KWHY in Los Angeles, Calif. in February.

“Thelma has continually demonstrated outstanding leadership and a tremendous understanding of both television markets,” said Morales. “She is an accomplished executive, and I look forward to her contributions as general manager.”

Jay Ireland, President of the NBC Universal Television Stations, added, “This is an extremely well-deserved promotion. Thelma has a proven track record of success at the Arizona stations, and I look forward to her future accomplishments.”
