Accentmarketing launches Accent Alternative Art Space.
May 8, 2010
Thursday June 10th Accentmarketing opens Accent Alternative Art Space, a non-profit art gallery that features emerging and mid-career artists at no cost to them. Killing and Salting, the premiere exhibition, features seven local Cuban-American artists’ work whose vision captures the day-to-day, bi-cultural experiences of Miami. Bringing unknown, local talent to the forefront of the community’s art scene is Accent Alternative Art Space’s principal mission.
Accentmarketing’s founding partner, Steve Blanco, conceptualized this creative haven in order to harness Miami’s artistic culture. After retiring in 2003 to become a full-time artist, Blanco saw an opportunity when the art studio next to his own became available. He decided to invest in the space and lend it to promising artists struggling to get their work noticed. Although most art galleries maintain a highly competitive approach to business, Accent Alternative Art Space’s working plan is quite different.
“There is so much unique art outside of the mainstream art scene that goes unnoticed,” said Blanco. “Our goal is to catapult these talented artists into the thick of it- no competition at all. In fact, we welcome all art galleries to come and pick up our featured artists.”
As an agency, Accentmarketing is comprised of creative and talented individuals who have developed their passion for art within the community in areas such as painting, graphic design, creative writing and music. For that reason, the project resonated strongly with the agency as its company culture is centered on freethinking ingenuity.
“Accent Alternative Art Space is truly a passion project that is 110 percent committed to enriching Miami’s local art community as well as helping fellow artists,” said Diana Ocasio-Fant, Executive Vice President Creative Director. “As an agency of creative individuals we want to reach out to the community regarding the importance of the arts, so this is a win-win for us because we can develop our own art while helping others do the same.”
Accent Alternative Art Space will showcase all forms of art. Local artists are welcome to become a fan of its Facebook page and begin an artistic discussion on Miami’s alternative art scene by posting their art and vision (http://bit.ly/accentART). Additionally, artists who post their work may qualify to have their fine art featured in the gallery.
A truly inspiring group dedicated to the idea that art can transform a community, Accentmarketing is committed to furthering Miami’s artistic culture by giving the heart and soul of the community’s creative scene a chance to make their work known.
Accent Alternative Art Space is located in 4814 SW 75th Avenue Miami, Florida 33155.
