Acento is Empowered by Women

By Donnie Broxson – CEO at Acento Advertising

March is Women’s History Month, and here at Acento, we couldn’t be more excited—or honestly, more qualified—to celebrate it. With a leadership team that’s 60% female and proudly Hispanic, we’re not just celebrating history; we’re living proof of the power women bring to the table (and trust us, our tables are always buzzing with big ideas, coffee cups, and decisiveness).

Why is Women’s History Month so important to us at Acento? Simple: women built this agency! So we naturally prize representation, resilience, and recognition. Representation matters deeply in advertising, especially when you have Hispanic roots like ours. Our women-led teams are not just leaders; they’re also mentors, mothers, sisters, and role models who understand firsthand how vital it is to tell authentic stories. They ensure our campaigns resonate deeply with audiences, capturing nuances and cultural insights that others might overlook.

Being Hispanic and female in leadership roles comes with its unique challenges and strengths. The strength part? Easy—think expertise, passion, empathy, and an unbeatable knack for multitasking (seriously, you haven’t seen multitasking until you’ve watched our media VP simultaneously review a campaign, handle a client call, and show appreciation to someone who brought fresh pan dulce to the office). The challenges? Well, those are external and only make us stronger, louder, and more determined to break through glass ceilings—and sometimes walls, if necessary.

At Acento, celebrating Women’s History Month isn’t just about honoring the incredible trailblazers who came before us, like María Amparo Escandón, an Acento founder—it’s also about acknowledging the trail we’re blazing right now. Our women leaders are shaping the future of advertising by championing diverse perspectives, encouraging creative risk-taking, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels heard and valued.

The influence of our female leaders is evident in everything we do, from our strategic insights to our day-to-day operations. It’s woven into the campaigns we develop, the partnerships we build, and yes, even the office playlists (because great leadership obviously involves great taste in music, too).

But let’s be real: as much as we love the focus Women’s History Month brings, at Acento, celebrating women is a year-round event. Our Hispanic heritage and female-driven perspective remind us daily that there’s power in diversity, creativity in community, and strength in authenticity.

So, here’s to Women’s History Month—and amplifying the voices that amplify us all. After all, behind every successful advertising campaign is a woman who probably had to explain twice why it was a good idea—and at Acento, we’re lucky enough to have a whole team of guerreras.
