Acuarela @ Telemundo.

Latin heartthrob Thiago Lacerda and the lovely Maria Fernanda Candido heat up the screen once again in Telemundo’s latest mini- series, “Acuarela,” an epic love story inspired by music and torn apart by war. Despite the chaos and struggles in difficult times, a heroine will emerge to fulfill her life-long dream of becoming a star. This passionate and intense tale takes place during World War Two’s Golden Age of Radio. It premiered Monday, May 27th, 2002 at 9PM (ETPT) and will air Mondays through Fridays.

Isaura (Maria Fernanda Candido, Paola from “Terra Nostra”) is a strong, determined young woman of humble means who defies her family’s wishes in order to fulfill her true passion: becoming a great singer. After leaving her small town in the Brazilian countryside for the big city lights of Rio, she begins her musical career by landing a job at a radio station. As she struggles to make it, she also fights to get her uncle Felipe (Marco Ricca) out of jail after he is falsely convicted of spying. Along the way, she’ll meet two men that will forever change her life: Captain Helio (Edson Celulari, Vadiño from “Dona Flor and her Two Husbands”) a good, honest military officer dedicated to serving his country, and Mario (Thiago Lacerda, Mateo from “Terra Nostra”) a charming, talented pianist who shares Isaura’s passion for music and who could be the key to fulfilling her dreams.

This Brazilian epic is the unforgettable tale of a woman’s dreams and desires, her struggles for inspiration and recognition during the golden age of radio, and a life torn between two worlds and the love of two men.

“Acuarela”, a grand tale of romance triumphant despite the harsh realities of war, was written by Laura César Muñiz and directed by Carlos Magalhaes and Jayme Monjardim, director of “Terra Nostra” and “El Clon.”
