Adobo Productions launches.
February 14, 2006
J. Carlos Maya, former Vice-president of Internal Operations at Roslow Research Group launched ADOBO Productions Inc., a music and audio production boutique serving the advertising, TV, radio, music and film industries.
“It was an idea I had for a long time; composing and producing music has always been my passion. Combined with my expertise in research and market knowledge, I was going to be able to create a different company, one that will stand out in the crowd” said J. Carlos Maya, founder of the boutique agency.
Already, ADOBO Productions has created original music for brands like JCPenney, Time Warner, McDonald’s, Pepsi, Verizon Wireless, Mexicana de Aviación, Western Union and others like Klass, BJ’s Wholesale club and Center for Disease Control, to name a few.
“Our business model is similar to an advertising agency, but we are not looking to compete with them. You have to be creative and passionate as well as smart and insightful. You can’t sell something if you don’t understand the product and the people who buy it, their background, their community, how they think, etc. Still, you have to be innovative by creating music they can relate to.” concluded Maya. An example of ADOBO’s creativity and sensibility to the market can be heard in the reggaeton/flamenco beat he created for one of his clients, which reflected the popularity of reggaeton without having the toughness associated with this genre.
The main idea behind ADOBO Productions is to offer added value to ad agencies by helping them create their client’s sonic identity by choosing the right music and/or audio. “When you want to effectively reach your consumer, you have to remember that there has always been music throughout their lives so, when chosen carefully, music can instantly create a link with their personal experiences.”
