Fiesta Atlanta returns to Centennial Olympic Park for its fifth year on Sunday, May 1, hosted by Lanza Group, LLC. The Cinco de Mayo event celebrates Latino culture with a day-long music festival. For the 5th anniversary, Fiesta Atlanta and the Lanza Group are creating a five year goal to further reduce festival waste by 50%.

As the Census figures on Hispanic keep trickling in, there’s one phrase that will continue to bring consternation to Hispanic marketing professionals and Spanish-language media execs: “but I don’t speak Spanish.”

There’s plenty proof that we US Hispanics are a bilingual nation. The real question is how we as marketers react to this reality. More often than not we have tried to impose our distinct backgrounds on an increasingly diverse Hispanic lot. The 1960’s radical, Abby Hoffman, offered some sage advice: “Do not try to impose your language on people you wish to reach.”

NRF forecasts 4.0% increase in Retail Sales for 2011.

The National Retail Federation released its 2011 economic forecast today, projecting retail industry sales (which exclude automobiles, gas stations, and restaurants) will increase 4.0 percent from 2010. The cautiously optimistic outlook comes on the heels of seven consecutive months of retail sales growth and better than expected holiday sales.

Hispanic 50% of population growth with 21 States reported to date.

Telemundo announced a preliminary analysis of population data released by the Census Bureau. The Census has released Hispanic population data across twenty-one states, where the Hispanic population includes 19,349,070 people and represents 54% of the population growth. The numbers released by the Census represent 38.5% of the total U.S. population numbers reported.
