AHAA to host Immigration forum in Washington DC.

The Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA), recognizing the importance of the immigration issue to the Hispanic community (the population from which we emanate and which we serve), is compelled to take part in the debate. However, rather than engaging in the political or emotional arguments that abound, AHAA is interested in focusing discussions on the economic impact that immigration action, particularly the deportation or criminalization of illegal immigrants, would likely have on the US economy.

AHAA is planning to host a forum designed specifically to communicate the facts, figures and opinions of thought-leaders on this precise topic, which is not currently being brought forth in the immigration debate. We will host a moderated panel discussion to explore: Immigrants as part of the work force and the cost to society of removing that element from the labor pool; the immigrant contribution as consumers and the costs to corporations when a significant portion of the approaching $1 trillion dollars in Hispanic consumer spending is eliminated; and the impending strain on US taxpayers when the immigrant contribution is removed. This is just a sample of the analysis AHAA would like to provide regarding the importance of immigrants, particularly Hispanics — both legal and illegal — on the US economy. We welcome your attendance as we bring this vital topic to the forefront of this momentous deliberation.
