Alban named VP Corporate Communications & Public Affairs at Telemundo.

Telemundo announced that Michelle Alban has been promoted to the post of Vice President, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Telemundo,from her previous role of Director, Corporate Communications, Telemundo. She will continue to report to Alfredo Richard, Senior Vice President, Communications and Talent Development.

In her new role, Alban will continue to oversee the company’s domestic business and trade media strategy and execution for Telemundo Communications Group,internal communications, executive communications, and will now oversee the company’s Public Affairs division in close collaboration with Richard.

“Michelle has served as an integral member of the corporate communications team,leading the successful execution for the network’s extensive corporate communications initiatives with a special focus on advertising sales,digital media,stations and Telemundo’s Latino-youth network, mun2,” said Richard.“At a critical time for our Hispanic community, Michelle will continue to be instrumental in the development of the company’s overall external and internal corporate communications strategy, while leveraging her deep commitment to the community as she takes over this larger role in public affairs.”

Alban was named Director of Corporate Communications for Telemundo Communications Group in July 2007, where for the last two and a half years she was charged with overseeing media relations for trade and business press to drive message consistency with communications strategy, company mission and business objectives. Alban also oversaw the Internal Communications department, ensuring that the company mission and business objectives were communicated to Telemundo employees at the network and stations, as well as the entire NBC Universal organization.

Alban brings to Telemundo’s Corporate Communications division an extensive track record in research and an in-depth understanding of the media industry. As Director of Primary Research for Telemundo Network from 2003-2007, she spearheaded such innovative research projects as me2, a study of Hispanic youth trends for mun2, Telemundo’s cable channel serving bi-cultural youth, Conexión Cultural for Yahoo!Telemundo, a study of Hispanics’ digital consumption, and the creation of the state-of-the-art Pulse Research Center in City Walk at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

Prior to joining Telemundo, Alban was the National Account Executive of Hispanic Services at Nielsen Media Research. She was with Nielsen Media Research for seven years and was involved in the creation of the groundbreaking A/P Meter system.
