Aldape – Editor & VP/Product and Audience Development @ Hoy.

Digby Solomon, publisher of Hoy, announced that publishing executive Javier J. Aldape has been named editor and vice president/product and audience development, effective February 28. Aldape will be responsible for news and editorial direction, as well as product and audience development for Hoy nationally.
“Javier’s understanding and experience in Spanish-language print media in the U.S. and significant industry leadership make him a great fit for this position,” said Solomon. “We welcome him and look forward to benefiting from his keen editorial eye.”
Aldape most recently was publisher of Diario La Estrella, a Spanish- language newspaper published by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, from 1999 to 2005, and he led the conversion of the publication from a semi-weekly to a daily publication in 2003. During those years he also served on the Star- Telegram’s editorial board, and for the last two years was a vice president at the newspaper. From 1996 to 1998, Aldape was managing editor for EL TELEGRAFO, a leading daily newspaper in Ecuador.

Aldape currently serves as co-chair of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists 2005 National Convention; is treasurer of the board of directors of UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc.; and is chair of the Newspaper Association of America New Readers and Revenue advisory committee. He is an active member of the National Association of Minority Media Executives, the Dallas/Ft. Worth Network of Hispanic Communicators and the advisory committee of the Texas Tech University School of Mass Communications.
