Alka-Seltzer sponsors Copa Tecate.

Latino Sports & Entertainment Marketing, LLC., a San Diego-based Latino sports and entertainment marketing, event management and experiential marketing consultancy, and the organizer of Copa Tecate announced an agreement with Alka-Seltzer as an official sponsor of the tournament. The agreement, which covers the 2007 season, includes brand exposure and onsite product sampling in each of the event’s 24 markets.

“Soccer continues to grow its audience in the United States and we believe Copa Tecate is an ideal way to reach the domestic Hispanic market, widely regarded as having some of the most passionate soccer fans in the world,” said Tricia McKernan, vice president, Global Communications at Bayer HealthCare’s Consumer Care Division. “We look forward to supporting this annual adult soccer tournament and furthering our efforts to connect with Hispanic consumers in a lifestyle-relevant way.”

As part of the agreement, the Alka-Seltzer logo will be featured on all player jerseys and branded banners will be on display during tournament matches and the nationally televised championship game. Additionally, Alka-Seltzer will provide onsite product sampling and giveaways during various events, providing fans the opportunity to experience the fast-acting benefits of the only* brand that provides antacid and pain relief in one convenient dose.

“Since its inception in 2000, Copa Tecate has evolved into the most prestigious adult amateur soccer tournament in the country, growing 175 percent in the past seven years,” said Carlos Boughton, brand manager for Tecate. “Alka-Seltzer’s participation in Copa Tecate 2007 will most certainly contribute to making this year’s event one of the most successful in tournament history.”
