Rosa Alonso has been appointed to the position of Eastern Advertising Sales Director, based in New York and reporting to Associate Publisher, Peter Krieger. Responsible for all East Coast accounts, Ms. Alonso’s direct reports will include New York-based account managers, in addition to the newly appointed Miami sales representative, Claudette Mendoza (below). Ms. Alonso brings 20 years of sales, new business development and marketing experience to the newly created position. Most recently, she served as VP, Marketing and Sales for LATINO.COM where she was credited with increasing advertising sales revenue by 400% and with driving web traffic up to a dramatic 26 million page views per month within the first six months of the site’s on-line awareness campaign. Prior to that, she served as New Business Development and Marketing Manager, National Spot Sales for Univision where she led her group in revenue gains and was responsible for breaking the financial services category, including such clients as MasterCard, Chase and Progressive Insurance. Before that, she held a variety of marketing posts with such financial institutions as Dreyfus, Fidelity, Citibank and Bankers Trust. Ms. Alonso, 41, holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Barnard. She serves as President, Alumnae Association and Trustee for Barnard College and resides in New Jersey.

Claudette Mendoza also joins People en Español as Ad Sales Manager, based in Miami and reporting to Alonso. Prior to joining, Ms. Mendoza served as an Account Executive at CBS/KTVT-Channel 11 in Dallas where she increased sales by 30% since joining in 1999. Before that, she served as Account Executive at CBS/WFOR-Channel 4 in Miami. Ms. Mendoza began her career developing marketing strategies for Everett Clay and Associates’ roster of clients. Ms. Mendoza, 27, graduated from Florida International University, Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Public Relations.
