Alonso named VP of Marketing at mun2.

Alex Alonso has been named Vice President of Marketing for mun2, the preeminent voice for bilingual Latinos in America. The announcement was made by Alex Pels, General Manager of mun2, to whom Alonso will report.

“We’re excited to welcome Alex to the mun2 team,” says Alex Pels, General Manager of mun2. “Since joining the network in July as VP of Marketing, Alex has shown his extensive experience and keen understanding in the Hispanic market, which will help propel mun2 to the next level.”

In his new position, Alonso is responsible for the overall development, execution and implementation of all marketing efforts for the network. Alonso joined the network in July 2008 and has since worked closely with both on-air and digital teams to capitalize on strategic opportunities.

Prior to joining mun2, Alonso oversaw strategic planning for Carat’s accounts active in the US multicultural space. During his time at Carat, Alonso worked with Hyundai/Kia, Adidas, RE/Max, RadioShack, and new business development. He also spent several years at Anheuser-Busch’s Busch Media Group where he worked on strategic planning and buying for the company. Alonso started his media career at Starcom’s Hispanic Group, Tapestry where he worked with clients including Showtime, Toys “R” Us, and Phillip Morris Youth Smoking Prevention.
