The Univision Television Network celebrated the grand finale of the first season of its music reality competition, “¡Viva el Sueño!” (Live the Dream!). After 13 weeks of grueling competition, Hispanic viewers across the U.S. chose Puerto Rican singer, Ana Isabelle, as their favorite to become the next Latin music superstar.
“We congratulate all seven exceptionally talented finalists on a great competition and in particular Ana Isabelle for winning ‘¡Viva el Sueño!,’” said Alina Falcón, executive vice president and operating manager, Univision Network. “Thanks to our viewers’ active participation and the support from our sponsors, this was a very exciting and successful debut season for the show.”
Born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Ana Isabelle is an accomplished singer, dancer and actress. Throughout her career she has had the opportunity to work side by side with many talented artists, including as a dancer for Luis Fonsi, Wisin y Yandel, Jenni Rivera and Ivy Queen, among others, and acting in such films as “Yellow,” produced by Roselyn Sánchez, and “Talento de Barrio,” produced by Daddy Yankee. She has also participated in such theatrical productions as “Who killed Héctor Lavoe?,” “Fame: The Musical,” and “A Chorus Line.” Her first music album, “Por El Amor,” was so successful it earned her a nomination for the prestigious “Premio Lo Nuestro” Latin Music Awards in 2009 in the “new soloist or group of the year” category. In addition to her formal training in the performing arts, Ana Isabelle holds a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Puerto Rico.
“I’d like to thank God, the fans, my family and all of those who have made this wonderful dream come true,” said Ana Isabelle. I would also like to thank Univision and my record label Universal. This is truly a blessing.”
In addition to winning the hearts of millions of viewers across America, as the winner of “¡Viva el Sueño!,” Ana Isabelle will receive $200,000 in cash and prizes. The other six talented artists vying for first place were Mexican singer Cristina (second place), the incomparable Fedro (third place), Peruvian rock artist Diego Dibós, regional Mexican singer Ojeda, Puerto Rican tropical group Zone D’Tambora and Mexican singer/songwriter Sergio Antonio.
Hosted by Hollywood actor and Latin American star Cristián de la Fuente, along with the beautiful and talented model/actress Carolina Guerra, “¡Viva el Sueño!” is a first-of-its-kind reality competition that pits professional artists who have not yet had their big break and gives viewers the chance to select Latin music’s next big superstar. The first season of the show featured 14 performers from across the U.S., Latin America and Spain who had gained fame in their countries of origin or had the opportunity to perform side by side with some of the industry’s biggest stars, but were still struggling in relative anonymity.
This year’s panel of judges included renowned Latin radio personalities Raúl Brindis from Univision Radio’s Estéreo Latino 102.9 FM; Stephanie Himonidis “La Chiquibaby” from Univision’s La Nueva 101.9 FM; and Enrique Santos from Univision’s La Kalle 98.3 FM.
