Anita Guerrero, a beautiful, kind, persistent, impetuous, and energetic Mexican immigrant, takes the U.S. by storm in Telemundo’s upcoming original production “Anita No Te Rajes” (“Anita, Don’t Give Up”). This romantic comedy novela, which touches upon the hardships that undocumented immigrants endure and demonstrates how a little bit of humor, self determination, and hope, can conquer all, premieres Tuesday, September 14, at 7pm/6c.
Mexican-born actress Ivonne Montero gives life to Anita; a young, sweet woman whose life’s philosophy goes back to her family’s motto: “Las Guerrero no se rajan” (“Guerrero family girls don’t give up”). Slogan in mind and heartbroken upon her mother’s premature death, Anita sets off to a great adventure, determined to find her aunt Consuelo Guerrero who lives in the United States.
After enduring the difficulties of crossing the US-Mexico border, undocumented Anita arrives in California where she meets Eduardo Contreras (Jorge Enrique Abello); a successful engineer who helps her out of some very sticky situations. Despite their efforts to stay out of each other’s way, their paths keep crossing as Anita arrives in Miami, Eduardo’s hometown. Together they will make an odd but perfect couple who will have to fight amidst societal and cultural differences, as well as romantic intrigues in order to defend their love.
In addition to co-stars Ivonne Montero and Jorge Enrique Abello, the “Anita No Te Rajes'” cast includes: Natalia Streignard and Marcelo Cezán as Ariana Dupond de Contreras and David Aristizabal respectively; as well as Elluz Peraza, Michel Manterola, Eduardo Serrano, Martha Picanes, Giovan Ramos, Teresa Tuccio, Roberto Mol, Millie Ruperto, Andrea Loreto, Jannete Lehr, Jana Martinez, Gloria Aura, Yaxkin Santalucia, Eduardo Ibarrola, Christian Tapan, Sabas Malaver and Gabriel Parisi.
“‘Anita No Te Rajes’ is the best example to date of capturing the U.S. Hispanic experience for our viewers,” said Ramon Escobar, Vice President of Programming and Production at Telemundo. “Our viewers will relate to Anita’s strong determination to reach the American dream in yet another original production developed exclusively for them.”
