AOL Latinno Launches Impulsa.

AOL Latino announced a new feature on its AOL Música channel called AOL Impulsa – that will follow promising young Latin music talent for months before their first records are released.

AOL Impulsa, will feature new Latin music artists in a series of phases leading up to the release of their first albums. Included in the program will be the online premier of the first single, an exclusive Sesiones@AOL performance, journal entries, photo galleries, song demos, polls, an album listening party and the opportunity for members to select the album’s cover art.

The first AOL Impulsa artist, Natasha, is a 15 -year-old singer/songwriters whose mother is Cuban-American and whose father is from Argentina. With influences such as Nirvana and the Cure, her goal is “to revolutionize the music industry by bringing attitude and an edge to the world of Latin music, and beyond.”

“Natasha is the poster girl for a new generation of ‘hybrid’ Latinos- composing in English and Spanish with equal depth and emotional vulnerability, said Richard Bull, director Latin Music, AOL Latino. “We anticipate that this new genre of Latin music will capture the attention of today’s U.S. Latino youth and our members because of its bicultural attitude and energy. We are thrilled to launch our new AOL Impulsa program with Natasha and are excited to offer our members an unprecedented way to learn about new Latin music artists in the early phases of their career.”

“This is a great new program for Latin music fans and artists alike,” said Rebeca Leon, EMI Music US Latin. “This level of exposure is extremely challenging for young Latin musicians, because there simply aren’t a lot of avenues for them to break into the market. With AOL Impulsa, these artists will get a chance to build a substantial audience before their first album is released.”
