Arbitron Network Radio Today 2006.

Network radio reaches about 75 percent of all radio listeners every week, according to the 2006 Network Radio Today report released today by Arbitron Inc. The report offers perceptive information on national radio listening and network radio audiences collected from the Arbitron RADAR radio rating service.
Network Radio Today profiles radio from a national viewpoint, outlining its strength as a medium and analyzing behavior for several important socioeconomic groups. Rather than analyze individual stations, the report evaluates the 56 RADAR-rated networks that supply programs, services and commercials to local affiliate stations throughout the United States.
The 2006 Network Radio Today report found that network radio:
Reaches 77 percent of American consumers in the coveted 25 to 54 age group and nearly three-quarters of youths age 12 to 17 on a weekly basis;
Appeals greatly to full-time working women, reaching 80 percent of this important socioeconomic group weekly;
Has increased in reach, with more than 129 million adults over 18 listening to radio in their cars each week, compared with the 93 million who listen at home;
Reaches approximately three-quarters of college graduates each week and almost 58 million who report having attended “some college”; and
Appeals greatly to the U.S. ethnic population, with nearly nine out of 10 black Americans age 12 and older, and approximately two-thirds of U.S. Hispanics in the same age category listening to network radio each week.
“Network radio has the power to deliver to advertisers well-defined demographics and social-economic groups in all ranges,” said Bruce Supovitz, vice president, National Radio Services, Arbitron. “This medium offers advertisers one-stop access to this substantial national audience in a convenient and efficient manner.”
